NAD+ side effects

The most common side effect reported is irritation surrounding the area where the injection is applied.

If irritation does occur, consider changing the placement of the injection on the body (i.e. alternating arms each week) to minimize irritation. If irritation continues to occur, apply an over-the-counter itch cream, preferably one with hydrocortisone.

Glutathione side effects

  • Irritation at the injection site
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, bloating, cramping)
  • A rotten egg (sulfur) taste in the mouth, usually mild

If irritation at the injection site occurs, you can: consider alternating injection sites on the body, apply an over-the-counter itch cream (preferably with hydrocortisone), use injections less frequently, or discontinue use entirely.

Signs of an allergic reaction to glutathione may include hives, itching, swelling of the face or lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing. If any of this occurs, discontinue use and seek emergency care.

Other important safety information

Taking glutathione long-term may lead to lower zinc levels. Avoid taking glutathione if you’re sensitive to it or allergic to any related ingredients. Do not use Glutathione if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

B12 side effects

The most common side effect of B12 injections is irritation at the injection site. If this occurs, consider changing placement on the body or use injections less often.

For a complete list of possible side effects, click here.

Do not use B12 injections if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant or breastfeed.

LDN side effects

When starting LDN, you may experience mild to moderate levels of the below-listed side effects during the first 3 to 5 days. These typically diminish on their own as your body adjusts to the medication, usually by the fifth day.

If you are on thyroid medication, you may need to monitor your thyroid levels more closely as you start LDN. If you develop symptoms of hyperthyroidism while taking LDN, such as heart racing, increased anxiety, restlessness, or trouble sleeping, please stop LDN and talk to the prescriber for your thyroid medication.

Note: You MUST stop taking LDN at least 48 hours before any surgical or diagnostic procedure requiring sedation. If you’re scheduled for a procedure and not sure whether you should stop taking LDN, please ask the doctor ordering the test or procedure. Additionally, you CANNOT resume LDN until at least 48 hours after you have finished any prescribed medication for the procedure.

Most common LDN side effects

  • Vivid dreams
  • Mild anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Headache

For a full list of possible side effects, please review the Mayo Clinic’s Naltrexone resources.
